Local advice

Planning Tours from Casablanca: Advice from Our Team

Why start in Casablanca

Casablanca is where most long-haul flights land. Royal Air Maroc flies nonstop from North America to Mohammed V Airport, so starting here often saves you a connection. The city itself is modern and busy. Most travelers give it half a day for the Hassan II Mosque, one of the few mosques in Morocco that non-Muslims can visit on a guided tour, and then move on.

Typical routes from Casablanca

The classic is the imperial cities loop: Casablanca to Rabat (about an hour and a quarter), then Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara at Merzouga, and down through the Dades Valley to Marrakech. That is the backbone of our 10- to 16-day tours. Shorter trips cover Rabat, Meknes, Volubilis and Fes. If you prefer the coast, El Jadida and Essaouira make a gentle southern route to Marrakech.

How many days you need

The big sights are spread out, so Casablanca works best with eight days or more. With 10 to 12 days you reach the north, the desert and Marrakech without rushing, and 14 to 16 days lets you add the coast and extra nights. If you have less than a week, flying into Marrakech or Fes may suit you better, and we’ll tell you so.

Arriving at Mohammed V Airport

Mohammed V Airport (CMN) is about 30 km south of the city, a 40 to 50 minute drive. Your driver meets you in the arrivals hall after customs, holding a sign with your name. Overnight flights from the US usually land in the morning, so we keep day one light: a transfer to Casablanca or straight on to Rabat, time to rest, and perhaps the mosque in the late afternoon.

Best season

Casablanca is mild all year thanks to the Atlantic, so the right season depends on where you go next. Spring and autumn suit the whole country. If heat bothers you, avoid the desert in July and August, and pack warm layers for Fes and the Atlas from December to February.

It depends on your flight. After an overnight flight, a night in Casablanca gives you time to rest and see the Hassan II Mosque. If you land early and feel fresh, you can continue to Rabat, about an hour and a quarter away.

Eight days is a sensible minimum to see the imperial cities and the Sahara. Ten to twelve days adds Chefchaouen and Marrakech at a comfortable pace, and 14 to 16 days lets you include the coast.

Yes. Guided tours for non-Muslims run most days outside prayer times. The schedule changes on Fridays, on religious holidays and during Ramadan, so we confirm the times for your date.

Yes. Many of our tours start in Casablanca and finish in Marrakech, or the other way around. Arrival and departure airports can be different.

March to May and September to November suit most routes. Casablanca itself is mild year-round, but the desert is very hot in July and August and cold at night in winter.

Yes. You travel only with your own companions, with your own driver. We can adjust the route, accommodation, number of nights, activities and pace.
